![]() Abdullah Ibrahim - Duke Ellington Presents the Dollar Band Trio-Nobi FLAC (EAC rip) | separate tracks | Log + CUE | artwork | ~210 MB incl. 3% recovery ( 2 files) Genre: Jazz, Post-Bop, African Jazz | Label: Reprise / Warner Bros. | Year: 1964 Pianist Abdullah Ibrahim (then known as Dollar Brand) was a newcomer to Europe in 1963, having recently left his homeland South Africa. His wife Bea Benjamin had persuaded Duke Ellington to see Brand perform, and he was so impressed that he produced Brand on a record date for Reprise with Dollar%27s trio (which included bassist Johnny Gertze and drummer Makaya Ntshoko), reissued on CD in 1997. Brand, who at the time was very influenced by Thelonious Monk and (to a lesser extent) Ellington, performs five originals plus Monk%27s "Brilliant Corners." Although his style was not as distinctive as it would become (there is little heard of his country%27s folk music), this is a consistently stimulating, exploratory and recommended, if (at 33-minutes) brief set. ~Scott Yanow, allmusic.com The Music: 01 - Dollar%27s Dance (Dollar Brand) 05:09 02 - Kippi (Dollar Brand) 04:04 03 - Brillant Corners (Thelonious Monk) 06:49 04 - Jumping Rope (Dollar Brand) 04:07 05 - Ubu Suku (Dollar Brand) 08:01 06 - The Stride (Dollar Brand) 05:01 The Players: * Abdullah Ibrahim (fka Dollar Brand) - piano * Johnny Gertze - bass * Makaya Ntshoko - drums Download From FileServe: http://www.fileserve.com/file/VakU58b/Abdullah Ibrahim - DEPTDBT.rar Use JDownloader to get Premium speed Tags: Music, Abdullah, Ibrahim, Duke, Ellington, Presents, Dollar, Band, Trio, Nobi
